Ceropegia is a succulent plant, part of the coutra family. About 200 species are isolated, most of which grow in tropical climates. In Russia, the cultivation of ceropegia is carried out at home.

Description

From ancient Greek ceropegia is translated as "candelabrum." This name was given to the flower due to its extraordinary shape, which often varies depending on the species. Some have upright stems, others climb and creep.

The leaves resemble a heart, light green in color with small dark green spots. Ceropegia is among the variegated flowers, i.e. having mutant cells that are unable to produce chlorophyll. The word variaegata in English means spotted.

Indoor Views

There are several indoor varieties of plants, they can be found in the table.

ViewCharacteristic
Wood (Voodoo) (ceropegia woodii)One of the most common species, easily rooted. The color of the leaves is marble; in the undiluted form, they look like purple and green beads. Included in the number of ampel colors and resembles a Galein cross.
Sanderson's CeropegiaIt has elongated, fleshy and smooth leaves of dark green color. Placed in pairs along the stem. The branches are quite fragile, so the plant definitely needs support. It blooms throughout the year. Five fused petals form a bud that resembles a flashlight in shape.
StapeliformThis hybrid plant has a rather interesting appearance, and the presence of thick three-ripe stems with antennae on the tops makes it possible to confuse ceropegia with some species of reptiles. The flowers are quite large, have a white color with a purple speck and mini sizes.
